MNP Continues to Build Momentum

An Unwavering Commitment to Clients and the Communities it Serves

When MNP, one of Canada’s largest national accounting and business consulting firms, merged in Bruce Martin and Associates in 2016, they were correct in their confidence that it would benefit the marketplace through better service to the Kamloops region. Building on that momentum was merging in James Foucault, CPA Inc. in 2017.

In B.C. – MNP credits strategic mergers, organic growth and value-added services and corporate culture for catapulting the firm to see unprecedented growth rates year-after-year. James Foucault, CPA, CA – Kamloops Partner, is proud of the business growth, comprehensive services and commitment to community that are cornerstones of MNP’s work.

“We continue to identify the need to grow the team in order to serve the needs of the Kamloops marketplace,” says Foucault. “Our team is growing by working with owner-managed businesses and through our focus on specialized client groups where MNP has expertise including health care professionals, Real Estate and Construction Services, Non-Profits, Indigenous Services and Agriculture.  We’re able to provide tailored solutions to meet the unique business needs of Kamloops clients.”

With 20 locations across B.C. from Victoria to Fort St. John, MNP has uniquely Canadian perspectives, expertise and resources and they understand what it means to do business in this province. That, combined with the local perspective gained from living, working and volunteering in the community, has resulted in considerable growth for the firm.

MNP is known for their prioritization of a business’s goals and its commitment to walk with their clients every step of the way to achieving those goals, but their dedication to quality service is not limited to interactions with clients. MNP has also achieved recognition as one of the 50 Best Employers in Canada by the AON Hewitt for 11 consecutive years.

“MNP has an organizational culture and values founded on an unwavering commitment to people; creating a great place to work and do business, where a healthy balance between home and work life are at the core of how business is run. Joining MNP in 2017 and being a part of the MNP family has been an exceptional experience,” adds Foucault.

It is that homegrown culture that also allows MNP to uniquely understand the needs of their clients and prompts them to continue to strive to constantly be evolving in knowledge and skill to best serve the ever-changing market and guidelines.

“As the needs of business owners in Kamloops become more complex, MNP’s depth of services and expert resources allow us to offer our clients business advice specifically tailored to their business so they can overcome current business and industry challenges,” says Foucault. “2018 saw the introduction of substantial federal and provincial tax reforms that impact local business owners. MNP’s tax specialists support business owners in Kamloops to re-evaluate their tax strategies to ensure the best financial outcome for their business, family and retirement plans.”

Because they recognize that every person and every business is unique, MNP offers comprehensive services with areas of focus including tax, planning & consulting, financial technology advice, etc. but Foucault also wants people to know that planning for the future is a critical need for all business owners and they can help. “We know that many Kamloops business owners are considering retiring in the next 5 years and the majority have their wealth tied to their business, “cautions Foucault. “With only 1 in 10 Canadian business owners having a formal succession plan, our team can assist in navigating that process and ensure business owners retire on their terms.”

Committed to the Community

With the future in mind MNP is constantly striving to not only serve their clients, but also to expand their commitment to community through innovative programs.

“Our firm continues to grow through referrals from our loyal clients,” says Foucault. “The Reach Out Program is a way to give back to our community and say thank you for those referrals.  It’s truly a collaborative process; our team nominates and votes a charity for the year.  Each time a referral is given we provide a donation based on an annual percentage of our first-year fees to the chosen charity.”

In addition to the Reach Out Program, MNP also contributes to the community through partnerships with Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, Kamloops Innovation Centre as well as Kamloops United Way through whom they are providing a series of presentations to help build capacity for non-profits.

MNP is also a proud supporter of the Canada Games. In celebration of their 60th anniversary and recognition of their locations from coast to coast, MNP is hosting the Canada Games Torch Relay Celebration Event on December 5, 2018, at 4:00 at the Tournament Capital Centre – and you’re invited!

The event will be full of activity, refreshments, prizes and fun for the whole family. Come out, make some noise and show your support for this incredible Canadian initiative and the importance of community strength in partnership with the MNP family.
