Silver Star Resort delays opening due to lack of snow

VERNON, B.C. — Silver Star Mountain Resort needs more snow to open its alpine season.

It had been scheduled to start this Thursday (Nov. 22), but it’s now subject to getting more precipitation.

“Conditions change quickly and with more precipitation on the way it is hoped that opening will happen soon,” says Sales and Marketing Director Ian Jenkins.

“The weather right now is a temperature inversion with a high of 2.5 degrees in the alpine today and same again tomorrow,” says Jenkins. “There is some precipitation coming on Thursday so hopefully this will cool off the alpine temperature and help to fill in the few spots where we need it. To have a high quality and safe environment for our guests to enjoy we need a bit more snow to get open.”
