KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire and Rescue are still on scene, extinguishing an early morning fire that broke out at a home along Dominion Street this morning.

Platoon Captain Dave Ferguson says the blaze started at about 6 o clock this morning, and was called in after someone walking by saw the flames.

“We don’t have any investigators attending at this time, but preliminary indications seem to be improperly discarded smoking material in a planter.”

Since it was caught before spreading too extensively, Ferguson says there were no injuries to the occupants of the home.
