Nearly 200 affordable rental homes coming to Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — Middle-income families in communities across the province — including here in Kamloops — may have a better shot at securing affordable housing.
The provincial government says in a news release that 4,900 new affordable mixed-income rental homes are part of the Building BC: Community Housing Fund, and the new homes are designed to address the need for affordable housing across a range of income levels.
In the Interior alone, 673 homes will be built. In Kamloops, three projects will lead to 199 homes with $4 million in funding to ASK Wellness for 40 senior homes, $11.2 million to the Centre for Seniors Information for 112 homes for seniors, people with disabilities, and families, and $4.7 million to Interior Community Services for 47 homes for families and seniors.
For Clearwater, a 20-home project has been allocated $2 million to Evergreen Acres Seniors Housing Society for seniors. A 40-home project in Merritt has received $4 million in funding for seniors homes through ASK Wellness.
