USA junior team to train in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Vancouver and Victoria will host the World Junior Hockey Championship in late December and early January.

One of the teams will hold some of its pre-tournament training in Kamloops.

USA Hockey says its junior team will hold the first part of its pre-tournament camp in Everett, Washington and then travel to Kamloops for its final World Junior tuneup December 19-23.

USA Hockey says a practice schedule will be released in the coming days, and work is being done on trying to schedule at least one pre-tournament game at the Sandman Centre.

The U.S. team is expected to include the Hughes brothers —- Jack, who is projected to be the first overall pick in the 2019 NHL draft, and his brother Quinn, the Vancouver Canucks first round pick in the 2018 draft.
