KAMLOOPS — One of the headliners of this year's World Juniors tournament in Vancouver and Victoria will be practicing in Kamloops.

The coastal cities will be hosting the championship in late December and early January, and USA Hockey says its junior team will hold the first part of its pre-tournament training in Everett, Washington, and then travel to Kamloops for practice from Dec. 19 to 23.

USA Hockey says a practice schedule will be released in the coming days, and work is being done to try to schedule at least one pre-tournament game at Sandman Centre.

The US team is expected to include the Hughes brothers — Jack is projected to be the first overall pick in the 2019 NHL draft and his brother Quinn was the Vancouver Canucks's first round pick in this year's draft.

The team and both Hughes brothers played in the World Junior showcase in Kamloops this past summer.
