CLINTON, B.C. — The new mayor of Clinton has been confirmed as Susan Swan after a razor-thin margin of victory in Saturday’s civic election.

Saturday’s count showed Swan defeated former mayor Roland Stanke by one vote, 121-120.

Chief Election Officer Monika Schittek says officials took their time with the initial count.

“We had a very clean, accurate process on Saturday evening. It took us three hours and 15 minutes to complete the count because we were very careful and very judicial in our process,” Schittek says.
