WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — The province is alerting Williams Lake that it is planning to burn slash piles outside of the community over the next several weeks.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, crews will spend the next four weeks burning woody debris near Fox Mountain.

The service says smoke and flame might be visible from Williams Lake during the operation.

The project is meant to reduce fuel sources and guard against future wildfires.
