PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — It was quite the haul for the Prince George RCMP after a large weapons seizure from a home.

Cpl. Craig Douglass says police seized multiple firearms yesterday morning, Oct. 12, after trying to locate a man with an outstanding arrest warrant on Poplar Place.

He says the suspect was believed to be living in a travel trailer on the property and in possession of firearms.

A man and a woman on the property eventually surrendered to police after the North District RCMP brought in its Emergency Response Team.

“The male had a knife on his person at the time of the arrest,” Douglass says. “He was transported to the detachment where he was held in custody overnight.”

Following the execution of a search warrant for the trailer, police seized the following:

  • A loaded pump action shotgun
  • A semi-automatic dual chamber shotgun
  • A loaded .45 automatic handgun
  • A .45 handgun
  • A .40 handgun
  • A handgun (confirmed stolen)
  • A 9mm semi-automatic handgun
  • 11 boxes of various ammunition
  • Over 200 loose rounds of ammunition

Douglass says the travel trailer and an ATV on the property were also confirmed to be stolen.

He says a 30-year-old Prince George man is being held in custody on the outstanding warrant and a 21-year-old woman from Prince George has been released on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 13, 2019.

Douglass notes the investigation is only in its beginning stages and is ongoing.

“In the last few months at least five residences have been targeted to steal firearms. In addition, there have been five reports of firearms being stolen from unoccupied vehicles in our community.”

In light of the alleged thefts, police are urging firearms owners to ensure their firearms are secured and to never leave them in vehicles.
