Construction leads to ER access change at Merritt hospital

MERRITT, B.C. — Construction at the Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre in Merritt will soon lead to a change to access of the emergency department.

Interior Health says the change takes effect next Wednesday, October 10, at 6:00 a.m.

Those needing to access the ER will now come in through a new entrance next to the hospital’s main entrance.

IH says the change is needed as part of ongoing expansion and renovation work at the facility.

When all is said and done, the $6.5 million project will quintuple the size of the emergency department, from 100 to 500 square metres.
