Fire heavily damages Brocklehurst home

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: (9:25 a.m.): Kamloops Fire Rescue says three people were inside the home when the fire broke out, and all made it out safely.

One woman was treated by paramedics for a minor medical issue.

A dog who was inside the home did not get out, but it was not known if the dog survived.

Firefighters believed the blaze started in the rear of the home, but had no confirmed cause.

EARLIER (9:00 a.m.): Flames tore through a Brocklehurst home Wednesday morning.

Kamloops Fire Rescue received several fire calls at about 8:30 a.m. as a large column of black smoke erupted from the home at 2495 Paulsen Place.

The first responding firefighters reported seeing "heavy flame" as they pulled onto scene, initiating a defensive attack.

There is no word what caused the fire, the extent of damage or if anyone was injured.
