KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops teen suffered minor injuries in a fight at McArthur Island Park this afternoon.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says police were called to the park at around 3:00 p.m.

“Some teenagers had gathered near the skateboard park and two males entered into a consensual fight,” she says. “One of the teens had a wooden handle and was using it as a weapon. The other teen allegedly pulled a pocket knife in self defense and the first teen ended up with a minor wound to his leg. He was transported to a local medical facility for treatment.”

Shelkie says “there was no risk to the public,” noting all of the teens remained on scene and have been identified and spoken to by officers.
