KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is poised to sell seven riverfront lots in Rayleigh, part of an effort to replenish its affordable housing reserve.

The properties are situated from 200 to 260 Huckleberry Place, which is off of Spurraway Road.

At council’s regular meeting Tuesday, Development, Engineering and Sustainability Director Marvin Kwiatkowski told council that the lots have been in the city’s inventory for more than 30 years.

“Those seven properties were acquired through a tax sale dating back to 1986. There was a no-build covenant on the properties due to erosion on the riverbanks. The banks were stabilized in the early 2000s. Given the market, it’s a good time to get these lots out,” said Kwiatkowski.
