Kamloops experiencing more pain at the pump than other communities

KAMLOOPS — Motorists in Kamloops are currently experiencing the highest gas prices in the region, and things are about to get worse.

With most gas stations in Kamloops charging $1.399 per litre, that’s substantially higher than Kelowna ($1.319), Vernon ($1.319), Salmon Arm ($1.299) and Penticton ($1.309).

Dan McTeague, senior petroleum analyst with Gas Buddy, attributes it to a “gas war” in the region.

“Kamloops hasn’t changed. It’s always very competitive and retailers there are only making four to five cents a litre. It’s everywhere else that’s just dropped to unbelievable levels,” he says.
