Employees union wants more security after another attack at a facility in Coquitlam

VANCOUVER —  The B-C Government and Service Employees’ Union says four staff members at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam have been injured in another violent attack by a patient this week.

    It says a patient attacked two health care workers and two nurses on Tuesday, sending one to hospital with severe injuries.

    The union says it wants to see more security measures put in place to protect staff at the facility and is demanding that WorkSafe B-C to investigate.

    The Forensic Psychiatric Hospital is a 190-bed facility that treats and rehabilitates individuals who have come into conflict wiht the law and are deemed unfit to stand trial or not criminally responsible due to mental illness.
