WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A 30 year old Williams Lake man has been arrested in connection with an August shooting in that community.

Daine Alphonse was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unlawfully discharging a firearm
  • Use of a firearm to commit an indictable offence
  • Careless use of a firearm

The charges follow an incident that occurred on Aug. 30, when police allege shots were fired at a home in the 300 block of Ninth Avenue at 1:20 a.m.

Police say the residents of the home were inside at the time but not injured.

“This investigation and the evidence that was obtained is a testament to the plain clothes General Investigation Unit, Forensic Identification Services, Police Services and General Duty Uniform Section who all worked tirelessly to bring this investigation to charge approval,” says Officer in Charge of the Williams Lake RCMP Insp. Jeff Pelley. “The RCMP continue to work with Crown Counsel to ensure violent offenders are held accountable through the court system.”
