KAMLOOPS — Air Canada Rouge has confirmed it is renewing a summer flight schedule from Kamloops to Toronto for 2019.

The three-times-weekly return flight launched in June but won’t run over the winter.

Airport Manager Heather McCarley says the return of the flight next spring indicates Air Canada must be happy with passenger loads.

“This is good news,” said McCarley. “It is an indication of the success of the flight this summer. We have seen the load factors increasing and the fact that Air Canada is planning on it next summer is also an indication of the success of the route.”

McCarley says many passengers are interested in visiting Canada’s largest city, but Toronto Pearson International Airport is also a major connection hub for Air Canada.

It’s hoped the success of this flight can serve as a launchpad for new routes through Fulton Field.

“We are, of course, always looking for any opportunities for new routes, new service, new frequencies out of the Kamloops Airport, just to make sure that we’ve got those additional services and choices for our passengers,” said McCarley.
