Air quality improving in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — The air quality has improved substantially over the past 24 hours in Kamloops.

“There’s still a haze in the air,” says Air Quality Meteorologist Ralph Adams with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. “The PM 2.5 concentrations an hour ago downtown were 17.5 micrograms per cubic metre. That is almost in the normal range for this time of year (5-15). The Air Quality Health Index is three – which is in the low health risk range.”

He expects things to continue to improve this weekend with a weather system moving through the province but notes things could change in a hurry due to all the wildfires burning throughout B.C.

“We’re not out of this yet. The forecast is for the hot conditions to continue next week and we could see a return to the air quality conditions we saw earlier this week.”
