Fire breaks out in hills behind Domtar

KAMLOOPS— UPDATE—

Kamloops Fire and Rescue crews made quick work of a small fire that broke out late this afternoon on the hill above the Domtar pulp mill. Crews were called around 5:30 after a lightning strike hit the hillside. By 6:45 PM, the fire was being mopped up.

 

Another lightning-caused fire sprang up in the Rayleigh area about the same time, but it too was knocked down quickly.

 

 

EARLIER—- Crews are dealing with a fire that sprang up late this afternoon on the hillside between the Domtar mill and Kenna Cartwright Park.
