Suspect drives through front doors of Vernon mall

VERNON, B.C. — UPDATE: RCMP are looking for two suspects and their vehicle after a daring overnight break and enter robbery at Vernon’s Village Green Mall.

It happened about 3:00 this morning when a vehicle was driven through the east main doors of the mall between Starbucks and Browns, down the mall to People’s Jewellers and driven through the doors of the store.

Police say two masked suspects, wearing dark clothing, went into the store, stealing undetermined amount of jewellery.

The vehicle was then driven back out the mall before police arrived and has not been located.

Police are looking for a Toyota FJ Cruiser, cream in colour that will have significant damage to the front end.

The investigation is still in its early stages and officers are working with mall staff to determine what was taken from the jewellery store at this time

EARLIER: A robbery suspect drove through the front doors of Vernon’s Village Green Mall overnight.

A source says the vehicle drove right into mall as far as People’s Jewellers in the mall centre.

There is no indication what or how much merchandise was taken from the mall.

Vernon RCMP are expecting to release an update later today.
