PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Prince George has been named the fifth most active city in Canada according to travel website Expedia.

The Expedia survey is based on a variety of factors including average number of marathons and hiking trails, access to bike paths, trails, and races, per capita gyms, yoga studios, rock climbing,  and other outdoor activities such as kayaking and canoeing.

Both Chinook Yoga Studio and Fem Sport BC Mountain Biking received special mention in the article.  Chinook owner Carla Wainwright hopes residents will use the article as continued incentive to stay active.  Lynda Foreman with Fem Sport says she’s seen a huge growth in mountain biking in the city over the past 4 to 5 years.

Calgary,  Whistler, Golden and top pick Vancouver were the only cities in Canada to place higher than Prince George in the survey.
