KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops chapter of Crime Stoppers is hoping a surveillance photo can jog the public's memory as police investigate bicycle thefts in the city.

The organization says on July 19 between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m., the man in the photo stole a Giant Reign mountain bike that had been attached to a bike rack on a vehicle parked at Aberdeen Mall.

Suspect description:

  • White
  • Short brown hair
  • Shirtless at the time
  • Wearing pants, sandals and white socks

According to Crime Stoppers, there has been a dramatic increase in bicycle thefts in recent weeks.

The organization says a thief with a hydraulic cutter can make off with a bike quickly, even if it is locked with a conventional cable lock.

Anyone who knows anything about this suspect, or about the wider bicycle theft epidemic, is asked to call Kamloops Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
