In golf, 16-year-old Adam Niles, who plays out of Rivershore, captured the boys’ championship on Saturday with a one-under 69 to finish the tournament at plus four. He won by two shots over first-round leader John Kahlert from Maple Ridge.

Also coming back with gold medals are the three Kamloops athletes who helped the Thompson Okanagan boys’ soccer team win 2-1 in the final over Zone 4 Fraser River.

Two more athletes from Kamloops won gold after they helped the Thompson Okanagan girls’ 5-on-5 basketball team capture the title. They beat the fraser valley 41-30 in the championship game on Sunday to win it all and didn’t lose a game all tournament.

Both Thompson Okanagan Zone 2 lacrosse teams earned a pair of podium finishes. The box lacrosse team, with five Kamloops athletes, lost 10-5 in the gold medal game to Vancouver Island-Central Coast, settling for a silver medal. The field lacrosse team that had 10 athletes bounced back after a 1-2 round robin to win bronze over Fraser Valley 10-8. They had been defeated 11-1 by Fraser Valley in the round robin.

The baseball team, featuring seven players from Kamloops, are coming back with bronze around their neck. The Zone 2 squad shut out Zone 4 Fraser River in the third-place game on Sunday. The team finished the round robin undefeated in three games before losing 5-1 to Vancouver Coastal in the semi-finals.

On the track, Kamloops’ Issa Diaou earned a silver medal in the boys’ pole vault with a jump of 2.90 metres.

Emma Guertin and Kierra Willis won two bronze medals in the K-2 500 and 2,000 metre events. Guertin teamed up with Grover and Solomonson to earn another bronze in the C-4 500 metre event as well.

In triathlon, Kamloops’ Kasha Victoratos claimed four bronze medals — one in the girls super sprint triathlon with a time of 50:44 with the others coming in the F-1 triathlon, duathlon, and aquathon events. In the boys’ aquathon, made up of just the swimming and running portions, Max Angove finished third as well with a time of 9:01.
