BC Wildfire Service maintains upper hand on Shuswap Road wildfire

KAMLOOPS — No new growth to report on the East Shuswap Road wildfire in Kamloops.

No longer considered a fire of note, Fire Information Officer Marla Catherall with the Kamloops Fire Centre says the 545 hectare blaze is still classified as “being held.”

“Which is great news. And as we can see in the Kamloops area, good progress has been made and we continue to make good progress.”

She says 29 wildfire personnel are working on the fire today.

“And crews are continuing to extinguish hot spots at the top of the slope.”

The fire started last Thursday, forcing the evacuation of a half a dozen homes and putting homes at Sun Rivers on evacuation alert.
