KAMLOOPS — The BC Wildfire Service is hopeful crews will be able to shift the status of the East Shuswap Road Fire from out of control to being held in the next few days.

Fire Information Officer Jody Lucius says the fire is now estimated to have burned 545 hectares, due to Saturday’s burn operations.

Lucius says the burn operations were carried out as intended, and says crews continue to work towards containment today.

“There are 103 personell, along with four water tenders, and two helicopters working on that fire today,” Lucius said. “They are working to extinguish hot spots within about 100 feet of the fire’s perimeter, and are working to increase containment on the fire at this time.”
