Extreme heat warning issued for Fraser Canyon

KAMLOOPS —Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Fraser Canyon, including Lillooet and Lytton. 

A heat warning is issued when maximum daily temperatures will reach at least 35 degrees Celsius, and minimum temperatures reach 18 degrees overnight. 

Meteorologist Louis Kohanyi says maximum temperatures in the Fraser Canyon will stick around 37-38 degrees for the next few days.

“Today is going to be sunny with a high of 37, and the UV index is going to be nine, or very high,” Kohanyi said. “Tonight is going to be clear with a low of 18. Tomorrow is going to be another sunny and very hot day with a high of 38, and a very high UV Index of nine.”
