KAMLOOPS — The remains of a missing Kelowna man have been discovered in Kamloops.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the remains of missing person Martin Joseph Thiffault were discovered along the banks of the Thompson River near the Kamloops Airport last Friday (July 6).

Thiffault was last heard from on April 19, 2018 in the Kelowna area. RCMP were made aware of Martin's disappearance on April 24, at which time a missing person's investigation was launched.

Shelkie says the death was not suspicious in nature and notes both the Kelowna RCMP and Kamloops RCMP continue to support the BC Coroners Service in its investigation.

Police say no further information will be released.
