VERNON — A police cruiser was damaged, and an officer was fortunate to avoid injury, after an incident near Head of the Lake Road in Vernon.

Mounties responded to reports of a distraught male causing a disturbance outside a home in the Willow Shore Crescent area Sunday around 2 a.m.

A man could be heard yelling and screaming, and banging on the door of a residence.

“Officers responded to the area, however prior to their arrival, the male fled in a small grey 4 door vehicle. Police located the suspect vehicle shortly after at the Head of the Lake Road and Highway 97, where it had come to a full stop. An Officer attempted to initiate a road side stop with the suspect vehicle, at which time the suspect drove toward the police vehicle, colliding with the driver’s side front end causing significant damage,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.
