Hockey Canada names 40 players for Summer Showcase – no Blazers

KAMLOOPS — Hockey Canada has named 40 players for the two teams it will ice at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Kamloops later this month.

Eleven of the players are from the Western Hockey League —- but none from the Kamloops Blazers.

Canucks prospect Michael DiPietro is one of four goaltenders invited, along with defenceman Jett Woo, who Vancouver took in the second round of last month’s NHL draft.

The Canucks first round pick, defenceman Quinn Hughes, is one of the players named to USA Hockey’s Summer Showcase roster.

Canada and the U.S. will each ice two teams along with teams from Sweden and Finland.
