KAMLOOPS — He stepped away as Athletic Director at Thompson Rivers University at the end of last year, wanting to take some time away and spend more of it with family. But Ken Olynyk is jumping right back into the workforce, just not at TRU.

Olynyk has been named as interim coach for UBC Okanagan men’s basketball team. Olynyk is no stranger to coaching the game as the former men’s basketball head coach at the University of Toronto and University of Lethbridge, and most recently has helped coach the South Kamloops girls’ basketball basketball teams.

Olynyk announced his retired as TRU’s Athletic Director at the Wolfpack Scholarship Breakfast in September. Olynyk will coach the men’s team, while the Heat’s long-time assistant coach Bobby Mitchell will lead the women’s team.
