Taylor lifts Ottawa over Blainville in first leg of Canadian Championship qualifying

LAVAL, Que. — Ottawa Fury FC opened the second round of the Canadian Championship with a 1-0 road win over AS Blainville on Wednesday.

Tony Taylor’s goal in the first minute of the opening leg was all Ottawa needed as the Fury now head home with the away goal in the two-legged series.

The second leg between the Quebec league champions and the United Soccer League’s Fury goes June 27 at TD Place in Ottawa.

The winner will advance to the Canadian Championship semifinal against MLS club Toronto FC.
