Kamloops set to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day

KAMLOOPS — Organizers of this year’s National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations at Riverside Park Thursday are expecting a big crowd.
“Last year we had around 1,500 people and this year we’re expecting more,” says Victor Tom, executive director of the Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society, adding there will be plenty to do.
“We’ll have different events on stage, we will have a bannock contest which will be judged by members of the crowd. We’ll have a teepee with storytelling and everybody’s welcome.”
He adds organizers will also be raffling off a 2018 Chief Vintage Indian motorcycle. That draw will take place at 1:30 p.m.
