Train kills man near Vernon

VERNON — A 25 year old man has been killed by a train in Lavington near Vernon.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP say the incident happened shortly after 3:30 Sunday afternoon on the railway tracks on Hill Road and Highway 6.

RCMP Corporal Yannick Lescarbeau says the train was moving slowly at the time but could not stop.

Corporal Lescarbeau says indications are the Vernon man may have been intoxicated and seen walking on the track moments before he was killed.
