LIKELY, B.C. — Unionized employees of the Mount Polley Mine near Likely B.C. are into their fourth week of a legal strike.

Members of the United Steelworker Local 1-2017 began striking on May 23 after the company, Imperial Metals, locked out employees.

In a press release Imperial Metals stated the 3-hour lockout “was intended to overcome an impasse on renewal of the collective agreement which terminated on December 31, 2017.”

A business agent with the union, Terry Tate, says the biggest issues in the bargaining process are seniority, temporary workers, and severance pay.
