Environment Canada issues advisory as hot weather returns to region
KAMLOOPS — Well-above average temperatures have prompted Environment Canada to put out a special weather statement.
Meteorologist Jennifer Hay says a building ridge of high pressure will bring scorching temperatures to most of the province.
“It’s a big, broad ridge,” Hay said. “It’s covering us and a lot of the prairies as well. Temperatures are going to be well-above average, possibly record-breaking in the next few days with temperatures approaching low 30s near the coast, and definitely into the mid 30s in the Thompson, Okanagan, Fraser Canyon areas.”
Hay says average highs in the South Thompson for this time of year are around 25 degrees.
