CLEARWATER, B.C. — The search for a missing Regina woman who fell into the Mad River near Vavenby last month has come to a tragic conclusion.

RCMP says the body was located in the North Thompson River in the south Barriere area on Wednesday (June 13).

“There is no evidence that any criminality was involved in the 31 year old woman’s death and the matter has been turned over to the BC Coroners Service,” says Staff Sgt. Annie Linteau. “Police and the BC Coroners Service have no further information at this time.”

The woman reportedly fell into the river, located near Highway 5 north of Vavenby, just before 9:00 p.m. on May 11 and was swept away by the fast flowing current.
