Weather statement continues for most of today

KAMLOOPS — A weather statement is still in effect for highways in the Interior, but the weather is expected to get better as the day goes on.

The statement affects all sections of the Coquihalla Highway, and Highway 3, the Hope-Princeton.  Snow is a possibility at the higher elevations this morning. Freezing levels should rise by this afternoon.
A few showers forecast in the Kamloops area, with the risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Meanwhile, we’ll see if the thunderstorm that passed through the Interior yesterday creates any new forest fires. No indication at this point just how much lightning was associated with the storm. Often it takes several days for a lightning strike to flare up, so crews will be keeping a close eye on things for the next few days.
