PRINCE GEORGE — Outside the College of New Caledonia (CNC) the flag flies at half mast and inside a memorial is set up to remember Sandeep Kaur, an international student at the school who had been in the city just two months.  She was struck and killed Wednesday afternoon around 4:40 while crossing Highway 97 between 18th and 22nd avenues.

“This is a very difficult time for us at CNC and we are doing our very best to support students,  especially witnesses that have been impacted by this and our employees,” said CNC President Henry Reiser.

RCMP collision analysts and the Coroner’s office continues to investigate. The 47-year-old driver of the vehicle who struck Kaur has now been identified as Michelle Dac. She’s facing charges of impaired driving causing death.

While support is being offered to those in the CNC community who are mourning, there is a cry for something to be done about those crossing the highway off a common path in front of the school.  That path is now being blocked off in the hopes to prevent further tragedies.
