Merritt woman assaulted while in labour

MERRITT, B.C. — Disturbing news out of Merritt this morning.
RCMP there say a woman was assaulted while in labour at a local health facility.
Merritt RCMP Staff Sgt. Lorne Wood says it occurred at about 7:45 a.m.
“RCMP members spoke with witnesses and it was determined that a man had assaulted his spouse who was in labour,” he says. “A 19 year old resident of Merritt was arrested. He’s known to police and will appear in court later today.”
