Summer fun: remaining water parks in Kamloops open for the season

KAMLOOPS — Good news for kids and parents.

The City of Kamloops has opened the water parks at Riverside Park, Prince Charles Park and McDonald Park.

Westsyde and Albert McGowan Parks opened last week due to unseasonably warm weather.

Parks and Civic Facilities Manager Jeff Putnam says today’s openings had to wait until June 1 for budgetary reasons.

“The larger water parks such as Riverside and McDonald are recirculation systems that require chlorination and frequent testing and a much higher level of service.”

Putnam adds Westsyde and Albert McGowan water parks are called “flow through water parks, so they don’t require the extra cost for testing.”

All parks are open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. through the Labour Day long weekend.
