Minimum wage hike goes into effect today
VICTORIA — A pay raise kicks in for approximately 400,000 British Columbians today.
Victoria is raising the minimum wage by a $1.30 per hour to $12.65 per hour — an 11.5 per cent increase.
Liquor servers will also see a substantial increase of 12.9 per cent to $11.40 per hour.
Resident caretakers and live-in camp leaders will get an 11.5 per cent bump to $759.32 for those that manage from nine to 60 units, or $2,586.40 for 61 or more units.
