CACHE CREEK — Cache Creek is taking no chances when it comes to the wildfire risk this summer.

The village’s Volunteer Fire Fighters Association has put in place a campfire and open-burning ban effective Wednesday at noon, until further notice.

“This open fire ban is in place to protect public safety, and to limit the risk of person-caused wildfires,” says Fire Chief Tom Moe. “This ban does not restrict fires in stoves using gas, propane briquettes, but does restrict fires in portable wood burning fireplaces.”

He says failure to comply with the ban may result in village bylaw enforced fines.
