KAMLOOPS — Blazers co-owner Darryl Sydor is leaving the St. Louis Blues after one season as an assistant coach.

Sydor says after 30 years in pro hockey he is confident now is the right time to step away from the game and put more focus on his family.

46-year old Sydor was a first round draft pick, 7th overall, of the Los Angeles Kings in the 1990 NHL draft.

He played four seasons with the Kamloops Blazers, including their Memorial Cup win in 1992.
