New wildfire ignites beside Trans Canada Highway near Savona

SAVONA, B.C. — Another May day, another new wildfire in the B.C. Interior.
On Monday evening, the B.C. Wildfire Service reported a fire start beside the Trans Canada Highway west of Kamloops near Savona.
Officials estimate the fire size at 100 hectares.
A photo posted to social media by the wildfire service shows the fire burning in grass and brush between the highway and the Thompson River.
