MERRITT, B.C. — The out of control Chataway Lake fire, located 27 kilometres northwest of Merritt, has grown to 40 hectares in size.

The suspected human-caused blaze ignited Sunday says Kamloops Fire Centre Fire Information Officer Brenna Ward.

“So, today the BC Wildfire Service is sending out 24 personnel as well as air support and heavy equipment,” adding no structures are currently threatened.

She says the plan for today includes preparing for the expected wind shift which will be brought on by the coming cold front.
