Kamloops Bike to Work and School Week begins Monday

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops residents are encouraged to dust off their bicycles and get active during Bike to Work and School Week. 

The week-long initiative aims to reduce green house gas emissions and encourage healthy choices.

The event is in its 12th year in Kamloops, and kicks off on Monday. 

Coordinator Faith Bateman says about 1,100 Kamloops residents participate each year.

“That’s staying pretty steady,” Bateman said. “but what I have noticed in the past few years is the number of kilometres people are commuting has increased, which directly transfers to the amount of green house gas emissions that people are diverting from the atmosphere.”
