Tunkwa Lake fire grows to 145ha

LOGAN LAKE — The Tunkwa Lake Road fire near Logan Lake has grown in size.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, it has grown from 140 hectares Wednesday to 145 hectares today and remains listed as out of control.

The human-caused fire ignited on Tuesday afternoon, though no structures have been lost to the blaze.

“There are 60 BC Wildfire Service personnel on site, working alongside 10 pieces of heavy equipment, two helicopters and airtankers are on standby if needed,” says Fire Information Officer Jody Lucius, who notes the fire is showing “lower fire behaviour” so far this morning.
