Opposition leader calls for relief from B.C. gas prices

VICTORIA —  B-C’s official Opposition leader Andrew Wilkinson is calling on the N-D-P government to provide temporary relief at the pumps for British Columbians, as gas prices soar.

Wilkinson says it’s no coincidence that costs are going up at the same time that the B-C government challenges the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

He says gas prices have risen more than 32 cents per litre since the last May long weekend and remains the highest in the country.

The Liberal leader says a temporary reduction in the provincial motor fuel tax and carbon tax on gas and diesel would give British Columbians a break during summer holidays.
