VICTORIA —    Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth says he’s never seen anything like the devastation he saw in Grand Forks, during a visit to the community yesterday.

About three thousand people have been evacuated from the the region, where snow melt has pushed river levels above 1948 records, flooding businesses and homes.

While emergency crews had a small reprieve over the weekend, when floodwaters receded, a second surge is forecast for this weekend.

Farmworth says funding will depend on the full extent of the damage, but the province is committed to supporting the community.
