WolfPack off to CCBC semifinals after win against VIU

KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team are off to the semi-finals of the CCBC Championships. In a ‘win and you’re in’ game, the Pack defeated the Vancouver Island University Mariners 5-3.

Veteran Regan Gillis (Fort McMurray, AB) started on the mound for the ‘Pack in his final start in the black and orange. He got the win as he tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and a walk. He struck out three Mariners batters. Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) tossed 3 1/3 innings in relief, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks. He struck out seven batters. Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) earned the saving, striking out the last batter of the game.

Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) had a huge game, going 2-5 with two triples, a RBI and two runs scored. Connor McKenzie (Kamloops, BC) went 2-4 with a double, a RBI and a run scored. Adam Filmon (Winnipeg, MB) drove in two runs. Josh Snider and Taylor Van Ham (Medicine Hat, AB) each went 1-2.

The WolfPack will take on the Okanagan College Coyotes who downed the Mariners 16-4 in a sudden death playoff game. That went five innings.   The Coyotes scored 10 runs in the third inning. The Mariners got all their runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The semifinal is set for 10 am Sunday (May 13). The University of Fraser Valley has the bye to the finals. The championship final is set for 1 pm. Come out and Back the Pack in their final day of the season. No better way to spend Mother’s day.
